You found this beautiful piece of pottery at your local ethnic store, you're wondering if this is something you can cook in? You were told they can be used for cooking, but you're concerned how safe they are, could there be lead in it? I am Sachin, an MEC Product Expert and in this article, I 'd like to discuss some of these hot topics as it relates to cooking in pottery. Lead in Pottery Glazes Before we dive into lead in pottery, let's quickly examine the dangers of being exposed to and the health risks of consuming lead. Dangers of Lead Exposure Regardless of whether a person breathes in fine lead dust/lead fumes or eats food contaminated with lead, the health effects are the same. Prolonged exposure may result in high BP, heart disease, kidney disease and reduced fertility [source] Pregnant women and young children are more handmade cookware lead poisoning as it causes adverse effects in the baby's brain and nervous system resulting in learning and other behavioral problems [source] Now that we understand some of the dangers of lead, it's important to understand a highway route (so to speak) for lead to enter our bodies— from food and cookware! Lead entering our bodies through food is dangerous because it gets processed in the digestive system and assimilated with the other nutrients. But because it has no value in the body it starts accumulating into the bloodstream, and tissue, and becomes hard for the system to remove. For this reason, it is all the more important that your cookware and food be completely void of lead. So, how can we tell if your pottery contains lead? To answer that question we need to examine two aspects of the item: the glaze, if any, and the clay itself.

Does All Clay Pottery Use Lead Glazes? Lead is an integral ingredient in pottery glazes, It is what gives it the smooth glass-like appearance (like ceramic ware). Regardless of what the labeling says there is just as much lead in glazes— either directly or indirectly. When lead is not used directly, the manufacturer does not have to disclose the fact and can still call them lead free glazes. Because of the high level of consumer backlash, manufacturers have looked into other alternatives like lead free glaze. Even with that, there is some amount of lead used that is mixed with other ingredients in the hopes of lowering the lead levels on the label. But what are these alternatives, how dangerous are they? On the surface they are equally or more toxic, only time will tell of their dangers with use! Another recent invention in traditional pottery is applying iron oxide to the pots. This helps avoid the use of glaze while at the same time giving some the “benefits” of glazing— smooth surface, hiding imperfections on the ware etc. But is it a safe substitute? I don't think so because this chemical form of iron leaching into food adds no value and can lead to iron overload in the body. The Clay Itself For all these reasons, there are some manufacturers who avoid glazing altogether. In those cases we need to examine the clay. Is the clay actually lead free? Most makers use secondary or tertiary clay as brass copper iron wood hand craft and easier to work with, but they are composed of many contaminants. Furthermore, the makers use lead frits like lead borosilicate frits and lead bisilicate— some examples of indirect use of lead. While natural clay just by itself does not contain lead and is originally composed of micronutrients, weathering and pollution from commercial farming and/or industrial waste could cause lead to leaching into the clay. This is why it's important to choose your cookware carefully— choose unglazed, but also choose one that has higher standards of harvesting their clay. Enjoy Clay Cookware & Dinnerware, Without the Lead Poisoning Risk If you are looking for truly unglazed, no lead cookware then you need to take a serious look at Miriams Earthen Cookware, why? Because we are the only company that digs 30 ′ under top soil to get pure and 100% primary clay that has NO Lead, NO Cadmium, NO Arsenic, NO nothing toxic— just pure all-natural clay! In addition, we don't use glaze, or iron oxide— and yet it is finished to smooth perfection by hand using the same pure and tested clay! Making Lead Free Pottery Instead of using a mechanized process that necessitates use of additives, we handmake our pots and pans on a potter's wheel using skillful hands— taking cue from our ancestors. And why not, in many clay cooking cultures they sure lived longer and healthier lives than we do. Each piece is individually handcrafted and hand-finished using the Tera-sigillata method, which offers unique healthy features but is a labor of love! Miriam's Earthen Cookware is willing to go to any length— no mater how tedious the process— to avoid the dangers of toxins in cookware. MEC Making Production Handmade Clay Interested in using the healthiest clay cookware and dinnerware without the risk of lead exposure? Head over to MEC's online store and order your choice of cookware and dinnerware today! People May Ask: How do I know if my pottery has lead? Some may believe that the more glossy a pottery is, the more lead it contains. However, only way to tell is to break down a portion of your pot and send it to a lab for testing. Surface rub-tests only detect lead on the surface but that does not mean anything, because when cooking, lead could leach from the core of the pot— as the entire pot is heated. So while it may not be practical to send every piece of cookware to a lab before using. A better approach would be to buy from a manufacturer that tests the raw materials before making pottery and makes the test results public. I found that Miriams Earthen Cookware does just that and any one can see their test results here. I hope this information makes it easier to choose a lead glaze free pottery.

When we and the Call of Duty community think of Infinity Ward and Modern Warfare®, a few quotes come to mind: “On your feet soldier – we are leaving.” “This is for the record.” “We get dirty, and the world stays clean – that’s the mission.” “What the hell kind of name is Soap?” But as we look back in Infinity Ward’s now 20-year history, from developing the original Call of Duty to now, there is one more phrase, spoken on the studio’s foundation on May 20, 2002, that still stands the test of time: “We will continue to revolutionize the gaming experience.” Throughout all of its accomplishments, Infinity Ward has been hard at work staying true to its core value: continue innovating Call of Duty Unlock All Shopand how it delivers to one of the greatest gaming communities out there. We most recently saw this in 2019’s Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare®, which was a step-change forward for Call of Duty as it became an instant hit and best-seller with fans everywhere. Innovations continued as the game was an example of the franchise’s new approach to post-release content: having every base weapon and functional attachment unlocked through base gameplay, removing the Season Pass in favor of free post-launch content, and introducing the new Battle Pass system for rewarding players for just playing Call of Duty. Following Modern Warfare’s release in 2019, in March 2020, Infinity Ward together with the talented development studios across Call of Duty provided a free-to-play, massive-online battle arena compliment to Modern Warfare known as Warzone™. It would go on to welcome over 100 million players. And within its first year, Modern Warfare delivered six seasons of action-packed, post-launch content, from new fan-favorite maps like Shoot House to the blockbuster Warzone limited-time event Haunting of Verdansk. Now, as we look to 2022 and beyond for this iconic series, we’re proud to welcome back Infinity Ward as the lead developer for this year’s Call of Duty experiences to be released starting on October 28, 2022. As a teaser to the Worldwide Modern Warfare II Reveal on June 8, remember the following as Task Force 141 assembles to stop a new threat: Between games, Infinity Ward’s global footprint has grown. They’ve been busy: In addition to their main campus in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, the studio expanded to Mexico, continued to grow in Poland, and even started up operations in Austin, Texas, over the past three years. Teams of professionals across three continents all working together, along with partner studios, are harnessing the collective creativity that players will soon experience later this year with the release of Modern Warfare® II: “Modern Warfare II is an incredibly ambitious title in terms of what we hope to deliver our fans. The fact that we have been Call of Duty Unlock All Shop this game in a hybrid environment throughout the pandemic speaks to the caliber of talent we have at the studio.” – Stephanie Snowden, Director of Communications. As per Call of Duty tradition, there was a “secret” that we had a hard time keeping: the sequel to Infinity Ward’s 2019 release known as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. With this new game, the studio is ready to welcome you back into the world of Modern Warfare, where you’re part of the legendary Task Force 141. Members of the studio are ready to reveal this next era, and the excitement is growing: For Joel Emslie, Studio Art Director, Modern Warfare II represents one of the most “ambitious, beautiful, bombastic, melt your face off game Infinity Ward has ever created.” In Joel’s opinion, the game “is this studio’s magnum opus and it’s the type of game I’ve been waiting to be a part of my entire career.”

“The team is positively thrilled to finally share what we've been working on here at Infinity Ward… we absolutely can’t wait for people to eventually jump in and PLAY Modern Warfare II!” – Candice Harris, Senior Producer. Nobody can predict the future. Whether it was the groundbreaking innovations from Modern Warfare and Warzone – Or the debut of Create a Class and never-before-seen Multiplayer progression systems with Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare® – Or the release of Custom Multiplayer Killstreaks and Special Ops in 2009’s Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 – Or even the introduction Call of Duty Unlock All Shop and the legacy of the Call of Duty® XP event for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 – Nobody could not have seen all of this – and more – be a vital part of Call of Duty and its success today. But what we can promise is that Infinity Ward – and all of us here across Activision and its studios across the globe – are ready to deliver a new era for Call of Duty. And we cannot wait to give you all the details about it. We look forward to providing you with more official information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and the future of the franchise in the coming days, weeks and months.

Is soldering by hand still needed? I’ll confess: I really enjoy making a well-crafted solder join between two wires or soldering a component onto a PC board. There’s something very satisfying about the smell of the rosin (we won’t talk about the lead fumes, of course) and the crisp eutectic transition of the solder between its solid and liquid states at 183 o C (for tin 63% /lead 37% solder), Figure 1 , and the shiny end-product of the well-formed connection. A eutectic material goes from solid to Mobile Phone Repair and Logic Board Repair Course in Torontoand reverse without an intermediate 'plastic' state; for solder, the eutectic formula is a composition of 63% tin and 37% lead. (Image source: FCT Solder) A eutectic material goes from solid to liquid phase and reverse without an intermediate “plastic” state; for solder, the eutectic formula is a composition of 63% tin and 37% lead. (Image source: FCT Solder) Being able to solder in various situations has saved me in tough spots many times, such as when doing a smart-thermostat installation (see Simple Schematic, Challenging Installation) or replacing a $3 failed capacitor in a $50 TV-converter box. Way back in the day, soldering even let me build all sorts of experimental circuits with discrete transistors, passive components, switches, and more, and these circuits were both reliable (if soldered well) and low cost (no prototyping board needed).

But I am also a realist: that was then, while this is now. I don’t see much need or opportunity for basic soldering for students, advanced hobbyists, or even project engineers. Let’s face it: most components are too small to solder (yes, I know it can be done in some cases with a fine-tipped iron, good eyes, steady eyes, and a magnifier, but still…) and many ICs simply can’t be hand-soldered due to connection bumps that are under their packages. It is possible to convert a toaster oven into a Mobile Phone Repair and Logic Board Repair Course in Edmonton– lots of web sites show how – but that’s another soldering story altogether. Even analog sensors and specialty components now often come complete with miniature connectors thus eliminating the need to solder leads, and have you ever tried to solder those hair-thin wires used in earbuds when trying to replace a bad connector? That’s why I was truly surprised, pleased, and slightly mystified to see the sign of Figure 2 outside our local library. I’m not sure if soldering is a skill for 10-year-olds, but maybe it’s at least OK to get them started. Unfortunately, I was not able to drop in and see what the class was actually like, how it was taught, and if the basics were being presented properly. Coincidentally, a few weeks after I saw that sign, there was a very brief one-column piece “How to Use a Soldering Iron” in the April 2019 issue of Popular Mechanics (scanned as Figure 3 ). This column from Popular Mechanics is mistitled; it should be 'How NOT to Solder.' (Image source: Hearst Corp./Popular Mechanics) This column from Popular Mechanics is mistitled; it should be “How NOT to Solder.” (Image source: Hearst Corp./Popular Mechanics) Hey, I thought, perhaps the “maker” movement is helping basic wire and board soldering make a comeback. But when I read the column, I was shocked. It would have been better if it were placed in the “what’s wrong with this picture?” item which was on the back page of that same issue. Look at the column and review the oversights and outright mistakes: no mention of use of rosin flux (yes) versus acid flux (a big no-no); no mention of use of rosin-core solder which applies just the right amount of flux, rather than brushed-on paste. Most beginners who use paste flux use too much, which then interferes with the soldering process and also becomes a mess to clean off; never use sandpaper to clean and prep the iron’s tip; most tips are plated to improve “wetting” of the solder with the tip. It’s like cleaning tarnished silver-plate utensils with sandpaper; no mention of the need for cleaning any residue, oil, varnish, or other substances from the wires being soldered (very important!); perhaps most worrisome: while it is Mobile Phone Repair and Logic Board Repair Course in Vancouver, it implies that you heat the solder until melts, and let it drip onto the wires. That’s the classic recipe for a cold-solder joint which is both mechanically and electrically unsound. (Best is to heat the bare joint you are making, apply the solder to the other side, and let the heated joint melt the solder); Pretty much the only point that is right in this column is the warning to be careful, as the iron will be hot. What puzzles me is that even if the anonymous author commissioned to do the article didn’t know anything about soldering, he or she could do a web search on “How to Solder Wires” and tens of credible sites would pop up with detailed text and hands-on videos. It’s almost as if the author just imagined soldering as an abstract construct. Do you still see a need for hand-soldering skills? To what extent? Has your ability to properly solder wires and PC-board components (assuming you can) ever been a real plus, either personally or professionally?

Traditionally, table saws tilted their blades to the right, in the direction of the rip fence, as was viewed most practical for right-handed users. A few long-standing models, including the Powermatic model 66, tilt Dewalt Table Saw the left, which helps prevent stock from binding and kicking back during bevel cuts. Taking miter cuts with the blade tilted left is also advantageous, as marked cut lines are on top where you can see them. While many woodworkers still prefer a right-tilt saw, left-tilting saws are popular enough that many makes/models of cabinet, contractor and portable saws are now available as southpaws. Making the Cut. When cutting small or narrow workpieces, use a push stick to feed the stock forward and a featherboard to help it bear against the rip fence. Regardless of the kind of cut you're making, make sure that the stock— and your hand and fingers— are clear of the blade before hitting the saw's “On” switch. When taking a rip cut, make sure that one edge of the stock has Best Impact Wrench or jointed so that it's arrow straight. Set that edge against the rip fence, start the saw, then use a push stick to feed the work into the spinning blade. Feed at an even rate of speed while keeping the work in firm contact with the fence. If your stock is narrow, it's best to use a featherboard to keep the work pressed against the fence and down on the saw table. Whenever possible, stand to the side of the stock and blade rather than directly behind it. That way, if the workpiece is kicked back, it won't strike you. When ripping dense hardwoods or “problem” boards (wood with knots, twisting grain, etc), the motor/blade may bog down as you cut. In this case, try easing off on your feed speed. If the work starts smoking or binds on the blade, it's best to turn the saw off immediately, remove the board, then repeat the cut or switch to a different piece of lumber. Small- and medium-sized pieces of plywood and other sheet goods are easy to cut, even on compact jobsite table saws, using the saw's standard rip fence. Large panels and sheet goods can also be ripped using the rip fence as a guide. If you cut a really big piece, make sure it's well supported at both ends of the cut with infeed and outfeed tables or supports. You can also crosscut large panels as long as the work isn't too long or the side that rides against the fence isn't too narrow. When using the miter gauge, make sure that the end of long workpieces won't hang up on the rip fence before you begin. Unless your stock is hard Best Hammer Drills , you can use hand pressure to keep the work firmly planted against the face of the gauge (a piece of peel-and-stick sandpaper applied to the face helps keep the work steady during cutting). When you're ready, slide the miter gauge and work slowly and evenly through the cut, making sure to keep both hands well clear of the blade. After the cut is complete, it's safest to shut the saw off before removing the workpiece and cutoff scrap: never reach over a spinning saw blade! For long, large, or extra short Types Of Chainsaw Chains, either clamp the work to the gauge's head or use a table saw crosscutting sled or specialized jig.

First of all, you need to know why you should buy a Harley Davidson Battery for your motorcycle. It's simple. All motorcycle batteries were NOT created equal. Harley Davidson Batteries: • are specifically designed and built as part of the vehicle's electrical system to meet the strict H-D design and test standards. • have a patented 25amp victron charger and strong molded-in terminal design for superior cable contact and longevity.H-D Battery • are completely sealed and leak-proof to protect you and your bike • have internal components that are designed to meet the H-D electrical and vibration profile, which provides superior durability So, ditch that “Other” battery Sure, it may have saved you a few bucks when you bought it, but no bargain brand can ever compete with the quality and durability that comes with a genuine Harley-Davidson battery. harley davidson battery. Batteries tend to get forgotten about. They're just expected to work. Here are a few things everyone should know about motorcycle batteries: Did you know that even when your motorcycle is parked and turned off, it's losing juice? Even in ideal conditions, your bike's battery loses 5amp charger of its charge every month. And when these Indianapolis summer days get hotter than 70 degrees outside, you double that discharge rate. To a battery, a big load for a short time is the same as a tiny load for a long time When a motorcycle is parked, the load on the battery is small but never zero – given enough time, parking will dischage any battery Motorcycles with added accessories, such as alarm systems, have even larger loads discharging their batteries with parked A battery discharges continuously in small internal loads called “self-discharge” – it speeds up drastically as the temperature rises A discharged battery can't start a motorcycle A battery discharged too deeply, for too long, may be permanently damaged So, what's the solution to extending the life of your Harley Davidson battery? Use a battery tender. It will provide a continuous flow of just enough energy to offset loads and self-discharge without overcharging. If you regularly use a 15amp victron chargerit will add years to the life of your battery. The key is to plug your motorcycle's battery into a battery tender, not just over winter, but any time you are not on the bike. It's simple, if you don't keep your battery charged with a tender in this way, you will be buying a new battery much more often.

While Mount Rainier can be visited year-round, the winter months make it much more difficult to access. It's best to visit during the months of July and August to give yourself the best chance to hike in warm weather with no snow. Wildflowers bloom in the summer, the temperatures are warm, and the views are phenomenal. During spring and fall, there's either lingering long beach hotel packages or it's just starting to fall, and roads begin to close. When snow hits the ground in the winter, you can visit Paradise and head out for a snowshoe, but some of the best parts to visit are closed. Understand the Regions of Mt. Ranier National Park Mount Rainier has 5 different regions to it, and all of these hikes are spread around these areas. Before you put just anything into your GPS and start driving, you should know which of these 5 regions your planned hike is found in. Longmire Open year-round and considered the Gateway to Mount Rainier National Park, Longmire is closest to the southwest corner of the park Paradise: The main visitor center is found at Paradise, has many popular hikes, and is open periodically for recreation in the winter. Ohanapecosh: This part of the park is only open in the summertime and has a beautiful old-growth forest. Sunrise: This is the highest point that a car can reach within the park and is home to many of these great hikes. Not open in the winter. Carbon River & Mowich: In the far northwest corner of the park, this area is less visited than others and is only open in the summer. Be Prepared for the Weather The weather in mountains can change in an instant, so it is extremely important to be prepared for any type of weather during your visit. Snow can be found on many of the trails anytime starting from September to July, depending on the year. There may be no snow at lower elevations and feet in flight and hotel packages to houston texasBe prepared for this with the proper gear. Many of the hikes within this park have viewpoints that require it to be clear. So, I would also recommend checking to see if the skies will be cloudy before going. Read—. Avoid Weekends if Possible. If possible, try your best to visit Mount Rainier National Park during the week, rather than the weekend. Parking can be a nightmare during busy summer days, especially at popular places such as Sunrise and Paradise. Weekdays are likely to be much less busy and you'll be able to enjoy the hikes much easier. Grab an America the Beautiful Pass. Mount Rainier National Park requires a pass to enter and hike within the park. I personally think that it's best to purchase an annual America the Beautiful pass, as it will give you the best bang for your buck. For $80 per year, you'll have access to all national parks in the United States and many other locations. Pick one up here. Or you can purchase a daily pass for $30 per vehicle. Where to Stay Near Mount Rainier holiday world hotel packages Because there is so much to do at Mount Rainier National Park, it's best to stay nearby to experience the most during your visit. The Nisqually Lodge is another great lodging option that is located outside of the park in Ashford. On the other side of the park, Crystal Mountain Hotels are near the Crystal Mountain Ski Resort and are closest to the Sunrise area of the park.
