Kick-Ass Women from History

A long time ago I joined a women's-only group on Lemmy and found a wonderful little community of varied women from all kinds of backgrounds. I wrote a little message once about how something that was being spoken of reminded me of some women from history, naming a couple, and was encouraged by the owner/moderator of the group to say more about strong women from history.

Thus was the Kick-Ass Women from History series born. I wound up writing eight very long articles (I tend to blather) and the series was quite popular.

Then I ran face-first into Patriarchy. The owner of the instance I'd published from was getting complaints from people who'd attacked me in various message groups and didn't enjoy my counter-attacks. (Meet like with like is the philosophy at work.) Their brigading was causing him extra work so he decided in the end to just delete my account on his server.

Plus all my content.

Which included the eight aforementioned articles I'd poured heart and soul into.

I was quietly devastated, of course, and decided to stop doing anything of substance on Lemmy because it just took one asshole getting butthurt to have it all vanish in a snap of the fingers. (I'd assumed that federation meant stuff couldn't be just deleted everywhere in a single action, but I was proved wrong.)

It's been almost a year now, and the hurt has healed. And something incredible has happened on top of everything else: all of my original articles, which I stupidly didn't save locally, have been located and restored to me.

This is a long, roundabout way of saying I'm back, babies! (And by “babies” I mean the whiny assholes who brigaded my content into oblivion. Fuck those guys.)

First I'm republishing the old hits (with some minor copy editing because I couldn't help but notice a few errors here or there). Then, after #8 is restored (under the moniker “Resurrected”), I will continue with more Kick-Ass Women from History.

Because trust me, there's a lot of absolutely great women nobody knows about because patriarchy.
