I'm called ~tomi from now on

Hey hello, I have found tilde people. I think I have reached the next milestone in my journey through the Fediverse. There are apparently things called pubnixes, which are public unix systems. You can just find one and apply/join and get access to it. It's basically your own little folder where you do stuff on a remote machine.

But wait there's more. These pubnixes have whole communities around them, basically they are the people who use these systems. Usually they host their own services from the same unix machine, which could be blogs, IRC, whatever.

So I'm a curious person and I'm constantly looking around the Fediverse for new stuff, and I think I was looking at the different instances for Mastodon, when I found tilde.zone. They have a pretty big network of tilde people generally, and they are a chill maker, developer community. It's called the tildeverse. It's multiple pubnixes joining together under the tilde.

I went through most of their pages, checked out their stuff and decided to join the tilde team. They pretty quickly approved my application and I got access to the pubnix.

It's amazing, it's really like when you go to someone's home and it's just nice and cozy and you can feel they really made it their own. There's a blog, IRC, gopher, gemini, and html hosting. It's really a chest full of treasure. The people there are incredibly cool, it does seem that they know each other (at least the active ones), which is expected. I don't really talk in IRC, mostly just lurking as usually I don't have anything to add or I don't feel like breaking up a conversation. Not sure how to join an IRC when you don't know anyone in there. It's a bit intimidating to be honest.

Oh and they have a mastodon bot and you can make it toot just about anything really. This community is really cool.
