Vanessa Hudgens Launches Skincare Brand with Best Friend Madison Beer

Actor Vanessa Hudgens and her best friend, singer Madison Beer, have launched a new skincare brand called Know Beauty, which offers personalized products that match cosmetics at the DNA level.

Vanessa Hudgens launches skincare brand

Vanessa Hudgens, the popular actor known for her role in the Disney Channel TV movie “High School Musical”, has launched a new skincare brand “Know Beauty” in collaboration with one of her best friends, the popular singer Madison Beer.

Dr. Karen Caga, a dermatologist and researcher in the Department of Cosmetics and Laser at Harvard Medical School, has been invited to be the brand's Chief Medical Officer, and will be analyzing skin conditions on a genetic level to launch optimal skin care products that are “personalized” to your skin type.

Proposing optimal skincare products based on DNA

Dr. Kaga, who is in charge of the brand, said, “Every day, I see people who want to know what they can do for their skin now and in the future. That's where DNA comes in,” he said in Harpers Bazaar.

Dr. Kaga continued, “First, we analyze the 46 chromosomes and divide the skin into seven categories. As a result, we get information on which parts of the skin are more prone to development and which areas to focus on in the future. The company will suggest which skincare products to use to optimize the skin's current state.

To get started, buyers can sign up for the Skin DNA Kit ($98), an at-home test kit on Know Beauty's website, and take a one-minute skin diagnostic test, which involves rubbing the inside of the cheek with a cotton swab to collect and send back a sample of oral cells (DNA), as well as other factors that affect lifestyle and skin health.

Based on the results of these two tests, the user can then choose from Know Beauty's skincare products that contain the right ingredients for their skin condition. The Know Beauty skincare products include cleansers, moisturizers, serums, eye creams, face packs, etc. The company also offers a convenient and affordable subscription service.

Vanessa and Madison have suffered from skin problems for many years.

Vanessa and Madison and L&L Skin met seven to eight years ago through Vanessa's sister, Stella Hudgens. They weren't that close at the time, but they later hit it off through their struggles with skincare. They have become such good friends that they are now working together to launch a skincare brand.

The reason why they decided to launch a skincare brand together was inspired by the fact that they have been suffering from different skin problems for many years, such as acne and pimples for Madison and aging signs for Vanessa.

Vanessa said, “We've both spent a lot of money [on skin care]. We've both spent a lot of money (on skincare), but we've been frustrated with a lot of skincare products that give us the opposite results that we want,” she told Allure.

So Vanessa and her team came up with a skincare product that is personalized to each individual's skin concerns. Vanessa says, “We've both been on a long skincare journey. We've both been on a long skincare journey,” Vanessa said, “and we've always thought, 'There has to be an easier way to approach skincare. There has to be an easier way to approach skincare so that you know what's right for your skin. We thought, 'There has to be an easier way to approach skincare, so we can know what's right for our skin, because it's different for everyone,'” she told Harpers Bazaar.

Vanessa and Madison launched a groundbreaking skincare brand that uses DNA to find the right skincare products for you. Unfortunately, Know Beauty is only available in the U.S. at the moment, but there is a possibility that international shipping will be introduced in the future, so stay tuned for more news.
