Sometimes So Surprised
I gave myself two presents for christmas. Both of those were computers and both had to be ordered from online companies abroad.
So today my father called me and said that the postal service had left a package to him but that it was addressed to me. I assumed that it would be a tiny envelope with the Raspberry Pi Zero W that had less of a journey getting here. The small device will be used to teach basic linux administration and will be connected through wifi so finding a place for it will not be a problem.
But the postage bag was quite a bit bigger.
The whole family under one roof
Work was tedious today. Mostly because of a severe lack of sleep. I produced furniture legs all day today. Time crawled but finally reached off-ours. And the best of all. My fiancée waited by the door and we talked while walking home.
It is so wonderful to have the family gathered. Not even influenzas could take us down. ...but seem to try their best.
Coming to customs nearby
A new message from the shipping company. My laptop is being shipped but they need to know if customs should regard it as private import or commercial trade.
sigh Mailing them...
Hiding behind curtains
Happy with the new set of curtains. They hide the hifi speakers without hiding any of the sound. The room looks less busy too. Very satisfied with the change.
The speakers will be replaced soon but the new ones will have the same size. Only the sound will be bigger. Better drives and better electronics.

With a strange ringing noise the phone told me I had mail to be read. Reading mail is a chore but this message was lovely to get. My computer has been assembled and is now on its way here. I hope it survives the journey.

Christmas this year has been like that. Nothing fancy, expensive or grand. It has been a time of few and simple gifts and it feels just fine.

Bringing my backpack to the Fediverse
The door creaks as I close it behind me. Snow dances outside my new windows. Must hang some curtains soon. There's only me and my backpack so the apartment echoes as I walk around the few square meters.
