Special Twist on a new SLOWLY stamp release

Ooopsie moment just happened...

...which is about the Austrian National Flag issue, due at this time as their national day is coming soon, October 26.

Except, there is no image to be seen.

You can get the stamp, sure, if you are on Austrian territory, but my pen pals in the region informed me of an oddity.

From a private Chat channel :

Flag of Austria is available, although the stamp is invisible!

The first spotter reported – “Flag de Austria está disponible, aun que (la estampilla) es invisible.”

Curious, isn't it?

And then it made sense to me.

There is a Typo on the filename used in the SLOWLY API for the Austrian flag. The file exists, but the API is calling it flag-AT.png . The correct name is : flag-at.png — see image here.

the Small sized, 160 pixel version

I had noticed a problem with this particular stamp, when it appeared in the SLOWLY API, and was added to F.'s excellent resource — the Stamp Collection page at SlowlyStamps.info.

What happened there?

It's a type-case issue

All of the country codes used for Flag stamp names have lowercase two letters. So, flag-de is ok, displays the German flag. And flag-at.png is valid, the flag-AT.png version is not on the server.

My shiny new stamp

So we end up with the curious ghostly stamp announcements and a blank void in our Collections if we had this stamp.

A Fix is forthcoming

As it has happened in the past, and even early this week – with a Typo on one of the Tarot stamp set pieces, un-noticed by the graphic designer or the Slowly HQ office staff.

The Wheel of Fortune new release

A sharp eyed observer noticed it, reported in a private channel, and soon an eager beaver leaked it back to Slowly HQ. The image was quietly replaced, and no word about it was published by the team.

The first report on this issue

JavaQueen probably did it, and got a pat on the head, lol.... 😜👍

So, enjoy your Slowly stamps, and our stories, the letters we send and receive. Many thanks to all the people who work to make this project so successful and unique, enjoyable.
